Welcome to Beira Baixa!
The Trebaruna House was born of the wish to prolong even more the life of a family house, where the current owner raised her two children, and was completely renovated in 2022. It is situated in Proença-a-Velha, a small village in interior Portugal.
The house is now prepared to be shared with those who want to enjoy the best that Beira Baixa has to offer: wild, wide landscapes, paths to get lost on or to find yourself… And this 200 year old house, a place to read, talk or enjoy your family and friends – by the fireplace or the pool, depending on the season.
The Trebaruna House is an excellent base for exploring the nearby historic villages (Monsanto and Idanha-a-Velha are 10 minutes away), natural pools and rivers, and trails of the Geopark, the Tejo and the Estrela Natural Parks. Here you will find tranquillity, comfort and the experience of a typical Portuguese rural house.
TREBARUNA...?
Trebaruna is one of the goddesses to whom the Lusitanians, the ancestral lineage of the Portuguese, prayed. She is a goddess of the home and family. Some propose that she is also a warrior goddess, and even linked to village fountains. Only eight places are known with traces associated with this goddess, almost all in “Beira Interior” and just on the other side of the Spanish border (and one in Cascais).
So we chose this “Beirã” goddess to designate this house, where we come to return to the essentials: our home, our family, a village... and thus refocus on who we are, and who we are with.
